Iran and Cuba are once again fertile ground for Italian and Apulian investments. Indeed, both countries represent high-potential markets. If Iran has resisted better than other areas of the world to the bites of the crisis, Cuba has returned to open up to international trade also with a new policy of investment attraction. To these two countries Polis Avvocati and Italy World Services together with the Puglia Region are dedicating an international meeting during the Fiera del Levante, scheduled for Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. in the Unioncamere Hall of the fairgrounds. The meeting, also organized in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Bari and the Bari Bar Association, in addition to delving into the relationship between geopolitics and new opportunities in global markets, addresses for the first time in Italy the relationship between Institutions and Professions in support of internationalization, placing the city of Bari and the Puglia Region at the center of an increasingly international opening that is intended to drive the development of Southern Italy.
“The appointment at the Fiera del Levante,” explain Francesco Paolo Bello (pictured) and Andrea Di Comite, partners of Polis Avvocati, “intends to offer an initial discussion of an innovative approach to internationalization in which legal assistance to businesses is flanked by technical assistance to local authorities in the case of foreign investment and capital attraction. This, thanks to the various partners and sponsors who intend to look with us at European and international models, and to the trust of the Bari Bar Association, which has decided to support the initiative.”
“I welcomed with great interest the proposal of Polis Avvocati and IWS,” says Economic Development Councillor Loredana Capone, “convinced that relations between our region and these emerging countries are strategic. It is no coincidence that Iran and Cuba are included in the new regional internationalization plan. Italy’s exports with these countries are showing some liveliness (+44.6 percent with Cuba and +4.8 percent with Iran in 2015 compared to the previous year) with Italian exports also showing a plus sign in the first three months of 2016. Our goal is to involve Puglia in this positive trend. A sign of liveliness is a remarkable 31 percent increase in the first quarter of 2016 put by our region in exports to Iran. But we must and can aim for higher values. This is why the development policies pursued aim at a virtuous relationship between public and private in terms of assistance and simplification and a flexible partnership model that is still struggling to take off in Italy and that we believe can start from the South.”
The event will be attended not only by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mario Giro, and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade, Adolfo Urso, but also by the director of the Institute for Global Studies, Nicola Pedde, Simest, Sace and Ice presidents Michele Scannavini, Beniamino Quintieri and Salvatore Rebecchini, the president of the Apulia Region, Michele Emiliano, and the regional councillor for Economic Development, Capone, who strongly supported the initiative. Also in attendance will be Italian executives and professionals and the diplomatic, governmental and trade delegations of the two countries.
