Polis Lawyers trainer on anti-corruption

A “training project for administrators, managers and officials of Local Authorities on the prevention of corruption” proposed by the firm “Polis avvocati” of Bari, was presented with a conference at the Prefecture of the Apulian capital. The project, endorsed by the Prefecture and the Ministry of the Interior, aims to accompany local authorities in the process of implementing the “anti-corruption” measures provided for by Law 190/2012 (the so-called Severino Law).

The initiative, the first in Italy, was attended by numerous mayors and municipal secretaries. In addition to Prefect Nunziante, the meeting was attended by the President of Anci, Sen. Luigi Perrone, the Mayor of Bari Antonio Decaro, and the Magnifico Rector of Aldo Moro University, Antonio Uricchio.

Speakers included Roberto Garofoli, State Councillor and Chief of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and attorneys Michele Laforgia, Gianni Di Cagno and Francesco Paolo Bello of Polis Avvocati.

During the conference, the need to initiate a collaborative relationship between public administrations and professionals in the area of crime prevention was emphasized, as has been the case in private companies for some time and as is, moreover, provided for in Leg. 231/2001.

Also discussed was the need to reduce criminal risk for managers, officials and public employees through appropriate training to identify the rules of prudence and good practices necessary to ensure transparency and efficiency in local government, especially in sensitive areas such as public procurement, construction and urban planning.

All the speakers and numerous interventions emphasized, for these purposes, the essential role of municipal and provincial secretaries, irreplaceable instruments for the legality and impartiality of local government, highlighting the serious risks associated with the abolition recently proposed by the government.
