As in the Tangram, the Imperial China dissection puzzle in which different pieces (tans) fit together to form shapes with a new, accomplished dimension, POLIS AVVOCATI aim to be a community of legal professionals where the integration of different legal backgrounds results in a higher degree of expertise and adds to the individual specializations in each of the firm’s practice areas, the added value of a multidisciplinary team.

Studio Legale Laforgia was founded in the 1950s by Pietro Leonida Laforgia, who was known not only for his professional practice, but also for his social commitment and for his battles to protect civil rights and, in particular, to defend workers and the most vulnerable citizens of our society. One of the founders of UIL national trade union, Pietro Leonida Laforgia, also served as National Secretary of the Italian Lawyers' Council (Fe.S.A.PI.), municipal councillor, Mayor of Bari and Senator of the Republic. After his sudden death in December 1995, the law firm continued its operations with Michele Laforgia. Over the years, other professionals, Alessandro Dello Russo and Maria Luisa Maggiolino, decided to join the firm together with (since 1998) Michele Castellano, Professor of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bari. It was in 2003 that these professionals decided to join their respective practices together establishing a partnership and setting up an association of Professionals under the name 'Studio Laforgia, Castellano e Associati'.
